Italian PM to meet with Libyan rebel leader in coming days

Italian news agency Ansa reports that the Italian Prime Minister is set to meet the leader of the National Transitional Counicl (NTC) in a few days.

Ansa news agency reports that Berlusconi had a telephone conversation with Mahmoud Jibril (NTC), in which they agreed to have a meeting “in the next few days” in Italy for further communication.

Berlusconi praised the rapid advance of the NTC forces and reconfirmed Italy’s commitment to support the revolutionaries for the construction of a democratic and united country.

Berlusconi reportedly also praised the determination of the NTC forces to avoid revenge and hoped that Libya may soon have a government that represents all parts of the country.

Yesterday morning, the Italian Prime Minister also urged Muammar Gaddafi to stop all “unnecessary resistance” to save his people from further suffering.
