Indian activist ends 12-day hunger strike

Indian activist Anna Hazare ended his 12-day hunger strike and has now returned to his village.

Local agencies report how Hazare returned to Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra after he was released from hospital yesterday. Hazare had been fasting as a sign of protest against the corruption surrounding the government.

Followed by thousands of activists, Hazare called for an anti-corruption legislation, as MPs have now expressed support for it.

Upon arriving to his hometown village, Hazare was welcomed amidst support from the villagers. During his hunger strike, Hazare lost more than 7kg in weight.

AFP reports a doctor as saying that Hazare’s health has improved and he is now eating normal food again.
