Police detain three suspects in Delhi terrorist bombing

Police say they have traced an email sent from Kashmir allegedly claiming responsibility for the terrorist bombing of the New Delhi high court.

News media report that the Indian police have detained three people for questioning – one of which an internet café owner in Kashmir, over an email allegedly claiming responsibility for yesterday’s attack.

The bomb – weighing 2kg and hidden in a briefcase - left 11 people dead and at least 90 others were injured. The attack marked the second time the entrance of the court had been bombed this year, and the eighth terrorist attack in 10 years.

The Guardian reports that senior police officers have detained the owner of a café where they suspect the was sent on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Indian authorities are investigating the claim of responsibility allegedly made in the email by the Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HUJI) militant group.

HUJI is al al-Qaeda affiliate with bases in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
