Nevada air show crash kills three, 56 injured
Three people have been killed and at least 56 injured after a fighter plane crashed at an air show in Nevada, US.
A World War II fighter plane at the Reno Air Rices spiraled out of control and crashed into the VIP area, leaving three dead and 56 injured – not counting those who went to hospital by private vehiles. 15 of the 56 are considered to be in critical condition; 13 are in danger of dying and 28 have suffered non-grievous injuries.
The pilot of the P-51 mustang, 80-year-old Jimmy Leeward, was among the dead. A video posted on YouTube shows the plane spiraling downwards and crashing into the ground. Reportedly, the plane climbed to an altitude of 400ft before plunging into the ground.
Speaking to the media, chief executive of the Reno Air Racing Association Michael Houghton, said the crash was “considered a mass casualty situation.”
