Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam claims innocence
Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam says he is innocent of crimes against humanity and intermediaries believe his innocence.
Saif al-Islam, son of assassinated ex-Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, said he is innocent of crimes against humanity according to an international prosecutor.
Prosecutor with the International Criminal Court (ICC) Luis Moreno-Ocampo said talks with Saif al-Islam had proceeded through intermediaries.
Accused of crimes during the Libya conflict, the ICC said that Saif al-Islam would get a fair trial.
Moreno-Ocampo said that no direct contact has been made with Saif al-Islam but trusts the intermediary who said that Gaddafi’s 39-year old son is innocent.
No deals are being arranged with Saif al-Islam according to the ICC which stressed that a carried out arrest warrant is the ultimate goal of discussions.
