Saif al Islam arrested, says NTC

The National Transitional Council announced the arrest of Saif al-Islam, son of deposed ousted leader Muammar Gaddafi.

The NTC's justice minister Mohammed al-Allagui said Saif al-Islam was arrested in southern Libya. He however refused to divulge any details.

The International Criminal Court wanted Saif al-Islam, who has been on the run since the Libyan revolution. ICC had issued arrest warrants both for him and his father, former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi on charges of crimes against humanity.

Arrest warrants were also issued for the former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi.
