Residents and activists in Damascus said at least two rocket-propelled grenades struck a building of Syria’s governing Baath Party.

There were no obvious signs of damage after initial reports of rising smoke from the building were made.

Once confirmed, this would be the first attack of its kind inside the capital since the uprising began.

Foreign journalists are unable to roam around Syria freely restricting the ability to verify reports.

The Arab League had passed a deadline for Syria to end its crackdown on protesters but violence pursued.

President Bashar al-Assad pledged to continue the crackdown on opposition groups despite the deadline passed.

At least 14 people were killed yesterday and four of those were government intelligence agents.

Some 3,500 people have been killed since the beginning of the uprising in March according to a UN estimate.
