Another rally is to be held by protesters in Cairo to demand that Egypt’s military rulers to step down.

The postponement of parliamentary elections which are due to start on Monday has been requested by demonstrators.

However, many Egyptians still want the elections to go ahead and the main opposition group, the Muslim Brotherhood which is expected to advance well in the polls, is not supporting the protests.

As a result of the violent protest in Cairo and other cities, the previous military-appointed civilian cabinet resigned earlier in the week.

Despite promises from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to solve the issue as soon as possible, many Egyptians are apprehensive.

It is believed that the council intends to remain in power rather than oversee the transition to civilian rule following the expulsion of President Mubarak last February.
