Nato accused of helicopter attack on Pakistan military checkpoint
Pakistani officials accuse Nato for an early morning helicopter attack on military checkpoint which is currently being investigated.
Nato helicopters were accused of killing at least 14 soldiers after firing on a military checkpoint near Pakistan’s Afghan border.
The attack, as alleged by Pakistani officials, took place in a tribal region called Mohmand after helicopters passed the border from Afghanistan.
It was a random and uncalled for attack according to the Pakistani military.
According to reports, the attack took place at the Salala military checkpoint around 2.5 km from the Afghan border in the early hours of the morning.
Investigations are being conducted by Nato after stating it was aware of ‘an incident’.
US-Pakistan relations would be further complicated as a result of the attack should it be confirmed.
The relations were already tense following an independent raid by the US which killed Osama Bin Laden in May.
