Sunday’s Russian parliamentary election results were tarnished by fraud according to Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev who also called for a re-run.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his fellow Russian leaders could only take one decision according to Gorbachev, and that was to annul results and hold a new election.

Gorbachev said that the will of the people was not being reflected in falsified and rigged results.

State TV channels only covered rallies supporting the government while key figures in the protest movement started 15-day prison sentences.

New rallies were being planned for Saturday by protesters following arrests amounting to 800 across Russia following Tuesday’s crackdown.

Riot police broke up a small rally on Tuesday while Putin supporters were permitted to continue with their rival rallies.

Heavy protest against the rule of Putin and his allies as thousands of people reacted to widely reported election fraud.
