41 civilians killed in one day by Syrian security forces

At least 41 civilians, including seven children, have been shot dead by security forces in Syria according to human rights activists.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that Syrian security forces yesterday shot down at least 41 civilians including seven children.

The Observatory released a statement today which said 12 people, including two children aged 10 and 12, were killed in Homs and a 14 year old boy was killed in a village in the Homs area where a massacre was planned.

Another five civilians were killed by security forces in the city of Hama and 18 civilians including two children were shot dead in the Damascus province according to the Observatory.

A woman and girl were killed in the south of Syria, while further north, in the Idlib province, three civilians including a teenage boy and a taxi driver, were killed.

At least 4,000 civilians have been killed since the revolt began in March in Syria according to estimates made by the United Nations.
