Clashes between Egyptian soldiers and protesters continue
Turmoil continues as Egyptian soldiers clash with rock-throwing protesters in their hundreds in central Cairo for a second day in a row on Saturday.
The conflict began once again early Saturday morning just a few days after voting ballots were cast for parliamentary elections by millions.
Friday morning saw an antimilitary protest camp stormed by soldiers outside the country’s Cabinet building.
Following the elections, tensions between the activists and security officers were made more evident as violence ensued.
After streets were sealed off around the country’s parliament building with barbed wire by security forces, large masses of protesters threw stones at them.
The protesters attempted to shield themselves using helmets, satellite dishes and metal sheets as soldiers counterattacked with stones.
