Twin explosions reported in Damascus

Two loud explosions are reported by Syrian state TV and witnesses in Damascus a day after Arab League observers arrive but casualties are yet to be disclosed.

According to initial investigations, two explosions which took place in Damascus were caused by separate ‘terrorist operations’ and showed the involvement of al-Qaeda.

The state security building and another security facility in Damascus were targeted and the blasts went off within minutes of each other just a day after Arab League observers arrived in Syria in an attempt to resolve conflicts.

Suicide bombers allegedly from the al-Qaeda sect detonated vehicles packed with explosives outside the facilities.

The attacks are the first of its kind since conflict began in protest of President Bashar Assad in March.
