Queen Elizabeth II's husband, Prince Philip, was yesterday evening rushed to Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire after experiencing chest pains.

The Prince was with the Royal Family at Sandringham in Norfolk for the traditional Christmas festivities.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said Prince Philip will remain in hospital for observation for a short period.

Speaking to Press Association, Dr Simon Davies, consultant intervention cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, said the Prince may have been on the verge of a heart attack or actually had one before the stenting procedure was performed.
