Predetermined targets in the Gulf were successfully destroyed as part of a test for two 200-kilometre range missiles and one short range missile during war games on Monday.

The test was conducted after more than a week of navy drills.

Concerns were raised following the test regarding Iran’s threat, following the imposition of Western sanctions, to close the main oil-trader route in the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance of the Gulf.

The tests involved the Ghader missile which was described by Navy spokesman Commodore Mahmoud Moussavi as domestically produced by Iran and considered to medium-range for a cruise missile.
