Three survivors found on grounded cruise ship
Italian rescuers find three survivors aboard the stricken Costa Concordia cruise ship.
Three passengers have been found alive on the overturned cruise ship Costa Concordia, more than 24 hours after it ran aground off the Italian coast.
A third passenger was located hours after a honeymooning South Korean couple were found in a cabin.
Late Saturday a South Korean couple on their honeymoon were rescued when firefighters in the unsubmerged part of the ship heard their screams.
Three people are confirmed dead after the huge cruise ship ran aground on Friday night, and some 40 remain unaccounted-for.
Police divers and rescue crews on Sunday circled around the wreckage of ship off the coast of the island of Giglio. Crews in dinghies were touching the hull with their hands, near the site of the 160-foot (50-meter) -long gash where water flooded in and caused the ship to fall on its side.
Three people are so far confirmed dead and about 40 are unaccounted for.
The captain of the Costa Concordia has been detained for questioning, as police investigate why the accident happened in calm conditions.
Two French passengers and a Peruvian crew member died, and another 30 people were injured, two seriously.
Meanwhile, divers are continuing to comb submerged parts of the ship, which is lying on its side close to a coastal island.
The vessel, which is operated by Costa Cruises, had sailed from Civitavecchia near Rome on Friday on a regular weekly Mediterranean cruise when it ran aground.
