Egypt calls for three days mourning for 74 killed

Three days of national mourning are called by Egyptian authorities after at least 74 people are killed in clashes between football fans in Port Said.

The Egyptian cabinet and parliament were called to emergency meetings resulting in the declaration for three days of national mourning for those killed during clashes between football fans..

At least 74 people were killed as a result of the clashes which occurred in the city of Port Said in Egypt after fans overrun the football pitch after a match between top-tier clubs al-Masry and al-Ahly injuring hundreds.

Protest marches were planned to take place today against the police’s inability to contain the violence.

Fans are expected to march from the al-Ahly’s club in Cairo to the Interior Ministry and have been reported as being angry at the regime.

Slogans against military rule were chanted by some of the individuals who gathered at the main railway station at Cairo to receive the injured from Port Said and the first bodies of those killed.

The Egyptian deputy health minister said it was the biggest disaster in Egypt’s football history and many were killed as people tried to leave the stadium in a stampede.

Security officers were among those killed during the clashes between Egyptian football fans.

This proves that frustration is very high in Eygpt. And maybe the western countries who openly supported the removal of many Arab leaders, will be very surprised with the out come of the new governments!!!
