Malta-flagged ship catches fire in Crimea

Malta-flagged freight ship ‘Ivan Vikulov’ has caught fire in the Kerchi channel near the Crimea coast. Ukrainian media said that there were 14 members of the crew on board at the time of the reported blaze.

Ukrainian media said that there were 14 members of the crew on board at the time of the reported blaze.

The deputy head of the Crimean emergency service Vladimir Ivanov said that they lost contact with the ship at 07:00am.

Helicopters from Ukraine's air force are coordinating rescue efforts. The ship was travelling from Turkey to Rostov.
