Eurostar delay angers fashionistas
An overhead power cable fault in France leads to cancellation of Eurostar services.
Thousands of travellers have faced disruption after Eurostar services were delayed by an overhead power cable fault in France. According to BBC, a number of passengers were delayed by up to nine hours.
A spokesman for Eurostar said the trains had to be switched from high-speed lines to slower ones. But while the Eurostar apologised for the inconvenience caused, it didn't do much to mitigate the anger and frustration caused to members of the fashion world who were heading to the fashion week in Paris.
The journey between London and Paris usually takes about two hours and 15 minutes.
From comments on Facebook and Twitter, leading models, designers and fashion label faces, talked about the distress caused by the delay. Model Poppy Delevingne tweeted that she was "deliriously tired" after an eight-hour journey. In another tweet she said: "Blew a kiss to the receptionist at my hotel as he gave me my key. He looked scared. So would I be. Deliriously tired. Snore #8houreurostar".
Designer Henry Holland tweeted "Eurostar DISASTER".
