Market fire kills 12 in Moscow
A fire sweeping through a southern Moscow market warehouse kills 12 migrant workers from former Soviet states.
Twelve migrant workers from former Soviet states were killed in a fire which swept through a market warehouse in the south of Moscow.
The market vendors were using the two storey building as living quarters and the fire occurred just hours after a separate fire at a skyscraper in Moscow.
The first was extinguished three hours after breaking out and emergency workers described the living conditions as cramped with market vendors sleeping on hard cots stacked on top of each other.
Russian media reported that an investigator said the fire could have been started by an electric heater left on overnight.
