Six killed by bomb in Pakistan
Officials believe bombing which killed six people in Pakistan could be related to bounty put on head of 61-year-old militant leader.
Six people were killed by a bomb which was planted inside a passenger van in Pakistan near the Afghan border.
Pakistani government official Iqbal Khan said that the blast took place in Jamrud town.
It is still unclear whether the bomb was detonated by a remote control or a timed device.
A number of bombings in northwest Pakistan have been carried out by Islamist militants over the past years, targeting civilians and those who do not support their mission.
Prior to the bombings on Tuesday, the US decided to put a bounty of $10 million on a Pakistani militant’s head for directing deadly attacks in neighbouring India.
US officials said that the reward would be for information which could lead to the conviction of Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, 61, who was the founder of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba with support from Pakistan in the 1980s.
Officials believe the bomb early this morning could be related to the bounty set by the US yesterday.
