Fake Chinese electronic parts used in US military equipment
The Senate Armed Services committee has found that 1,800 cases of fake parts were used in US military aircraft.
A year-long probe carried by the Senate Armed Services Committee found a vast number of counterfeit Chinese electronic parts being used in US military equipment.
According to the report, more than 70% of an estimated one million suspect parts were traced back to China. The report is also blaming the weaknesses in the US supply chain and China's failure to curb the counterfeit market.
The committee argued that the failure of a key part could pose safety and national security risks and lead to higher costs for the Pentagon.
After China, the UK and Canada were found to be the next-largest source countries for fake parts.
