If numbers are confirmed, more than 200 Syrians were killed in a rebellious village in what could be the single worst violent incident in 16 months of conflict.

Activists said that helicopters, tanks and militia were involved in a mass killing of mostly civilians in Taramseh near Hama which was bombarded and stormed by government forces.

This is just one of numerous attempts by rebels trying to oust President Bashar Assad from office and stop the bloodshed.

State media in Syria accused terrorists for the massacre during which three security personnel had been killed during the conflict.

Entire houses were destroyed and burned down by the bombs, and the bodies of men, women and children from numerous families were taken to a local mosque although many bodies are still to be collected from rivers, houses and the streets.
