Forty-three years after becoming the first man to walk on the moon, just turned 82-year-old Neil Armstrong is currently in recovery after undergoing heart surgery.

Armstrong’s location as he recuperates remains unknown with a NASA spokesman simply revealing that he was recovering well after speaking to Armstrong’s wife, Carol.

Charles Bolden, NASA Administrator, posted a Facebook statement wishing Armstrong a speedy recovery from cardiac bypass surgery.

The statement also said that the “entire NASA Family” was keeping the Armstrong family in their thoughts.

Landing on the moon on 20 July 1969 in the Apollo 11 spacecraft commanded by Armstrong himself, the famous phrase, “"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" was spoken during a radio transmission back to Earth.

Armstrong, together with fellow astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, spent almost three hours walking on the moon. Adrin also wished Armstrong well.
