At least 14 people were killed when a Taliban suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden motorcycle into a joint US-Afghan patrol.

This latest attack continues to cause difficulty as foreign troops try to transfer security to Afghan forces before withdrawing from the country over the next couple of years.

The US military’s death toll has been pushed above 2,000 over the last 11 years with this latest attack.

Following a number of attacks by Afghan soldiers and police on their international allies, joint patrols between NATO and Afghan forces have been limited.

The mixed police and military patrol was struck by a bomber in the latest attack shortly after they exited their vehicles to patrol a market area serving as a reminder that insurgents were still fighting hard after 11 years.

Six civilians, four police officers, three Americans and their translator were killed in the explosion and more than 60 Afghan civilians were also injured.
