US President sued over blocked US wind farm deal by China firm
Chinese-owned firm in the US sues President Barack Obama for blocking a wind farm deal on the grounds of national security.
US President Barack Obama is being sued by a Chinese-owned firm in the US after a wind farm deal was blocked on the grounds of national security.
Four wind farm projects close to a US naval facility in Oregon were acquired by Ralls Corp a privately owned firm earlier in 2012.
The firm’s lawsuit alleges that the US government overstepped its authority after Obama signed the order which blocked the deal last week.
This is the first foreign investment to be blocked in the US for 22 years.
Ralls Corp was forced to disassociate itself from the projects which were to be located in an area close to restricted airspace used by the Naval Weapons Systems Training Facility.
