Bodies of all 18 children in China retrieved from rubble
Rescuers retrieve the bodies of all 18 elementary students buried under a school which crumbled after a landslide in China.
China’s state media said that the bodies of the 18 students buried under the rubble of an elementary school in southwest China have been retrieved.
Another victim’s body was also retrieved from a house close by which was also struck by the landslide. One person still remains missing.
The 18 students were in school on Thursday, a public holiday, to make up for missed classes due to recent earthquakes.
A military rescue team of 50 soldiers were dispatched to the area where the landslide occurred following several days of rain and a series of earthquakes which took place on 7 September killing at least 80 peoples and injuring hundreds.
