Deadly explosion kills scores in Somalia
At least 11 people killed in Mogadishu as suicide bomber rams car laden with explosives into convoy, police say.
An African Union convoy carrying the Somalian interior minister and a visiting Qatari delegation was attacked by a suicide car bomb in the center of Mogadishu on Sunday morning.
A loud blast has struck the commercial and administrative district of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, sending a plume of black smoke into the sky and killing 11 people.
The blast, followed by gunfire, struck Mogadishu's 'Kilometre 4' neighborhood on Sunday morning.
All members of the convoy were unharmed, said the Somali Prime Minister's spokesman Ahmed Adan.
Adan blamed the radical Islamist militia Al-Shabaab for the attack.
Separately, the African Union command in Mogadishu said at least seven civilians were killed in the attack.
