Man arraigned over soldier's murder
22-year-old charged with the murder of soldier Lee Rigby as second suspect remains in hospital under police custody.
Flanked by two police officers and wearing a gray long-sleeved shirt and white trousers, Michael Adebowale, 22 was charged with the London murder of British soldier Lee Rigby.
Adebowale walked uncomfortably into the hall, with his hands handcuffed and wrapped in medical dressings. Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle at Westminster Magistrates' Court told the accused that since he was injured he could face the charges sitting down.
The metropolitan police also charged Adebowale with the unlawful possession of a firearm and a Dutch revolver.
The case was referred to the Central Criminal Court also knows as the Old Bailey.
A bail hearing will take place on 3 June while the preliminary hearing is scheduled for 28 June.
Suspect Michael Adebolajo aged 28 is still in custody at hospital. He was injured when the police shot him on the scene of the murder in the southeast London district of Woolwich on 22 May.
In the course of their investigations the British Anti terrorism Unit arrested 10 people. Of these two were released without being charged while six have been granted bail.
