Czech female premier in waiting
Female MP is best contender for Czech republic's premiership
The Czech Republic's lower house speaker Miroslava Nemcova has been proposed as Czech's first female prime minister. She contests the seat vacated by premier Petr Necas.
Necas resigned his premiership on Monday in the midst of a corruption scandal. His resignation also doomed his government. President Milos Zeman accepted the premier's resignation but leftist Zeman heavily opposed the forming of a coalition.
Opinion polls place the opposition Social Democrats as favourites if the country goes to the polls. If no agreement is reached over a new premier and cabinet, the Czech Republic would be pushed towards early elections.
