Royal birth dominates UK newspapers

UK newspapers publish special 'souvenir' editions on this occasion.

As expected, the royal baby birth feature in all today's major UK newspapers front-pages.

To mark this special occasion, The Sun renamed itself 'The Son'.

The official notification posted outside Buckingham Palace featured in three front-pages: The Guardian, The Sun and The Independent.

The Daily Express, The Daily Star, and The Daily Telegraph, all picture the Duchess of Cambridge with the headline 'It's a boy!'

The Daily Mail shows new-grandfather Prince Charles, alongside the headline: 'Oh boy! One's a grandpa'. The Times' souvenir edition shows a picture of the royal couple, with the headline: 'Welcome to the world'

The Independent declares in it's front-page: 'Special Delivery: Duchess gives birth to a prince - and a global media feeding frenzy begins'.

The Guardian covers the birth with extensive reporting, as well as an image of the official notification, under the headline: 'A birth, a boy, a prince, a king'

The Mirror shows an image of the royal couple, with the headline: 'Our little prince'.

The baby boy weighed eight pounds six ounces and was delivered in the Lindo wing at 4.34pm. It will be the duke and duchess's first child and will be third in line to the throne.
