Three killed in car explosion in Afghanistan
Car bomb explosion at a NATO convoy in Afghanistan claims the life of three soldiers.
Three people were reported to have lost their lives in a suicide attack on a NATO convoy near Kandahar International Airport.
The Afghan army reported that a car loaded with explosives was detonated near military vehicles forming part of a convoy of NATO and Afghan troops. Six soldiers were grievously injured and others wounded while three suffered fatal injuries.
The Taliban was said to have taken responsibility of the attack. Afghan media is not ruling out that civilians were also injured in the attack.
Kandahar's airport is the biggest US military base in the country's southern region and has witnessed frequent attacks by the Taliban.
Late last week 11 people were killed and more than 17 injured when the US consulate was attacked with explosives and gunfire. Subsequently the consulate evacuated its staff to the US embassy in Kabul.
