More protests erupt in Turkey

Turkey citizens take to the streets after the death of a 22-year-old youth.

The streets of Turkey have once more been the stage for violence between riot police and protestors following the recent death of a 22-year-old demonstrator in unclear circumstances.

Demonstrators have claimed police action was behind the death of youth, Ahmet Atakan with witnesses saying he was hit on his head. However authorities claim the Atakan fell from a building and backed their reply by CCTV footage.

Protests in Istanbul, Hatay and Ankara were met with tear gas and a water cannon in an attempt by riot police to quell the demonstrations. Observers have said that the unrest is on a lesser scale that Turkey's summer protests.

In Ankara, protesters vented their frustration and disagreement for the building of a new cultural centre which will include a Sunni mosque alongside a prayer house for Shiite Muslims.
