Relatives of six of the accused identified their kinsmen saying they had gone missing after being handed over to the military from a detention centre.

Seven of the accused had been picked by men in plain clothes from a Pakistani jail had to be treated in a hospital on court orders. Three of them appeared in court unable to walk without physical support. Allegations abound that another four prisoners died from torture.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, urged army and intelligence agencies to reveal the detainees' whereabouts and present the men in court. Judge Muhammad Chaudhry retires next Wednesday.

Over the past years a number of people have been held by the Pakistani's military over allegations of supporting militants and nationalist groups. However the detained are never arraigned.
