The French mother who killed her 8 babies is relieved her secret is out

Dominique Cottrez’s lawyer today said that she is relieved that the killings she committed on eight of her newborn babies is finally out.

The lawyer said, “it is a kind of relief for her that she doesn’t have to carry this on her conscience any more,” adding that after her questioning she was tired, worn out and battered down.”

Cottrez, 45 and a nursing assistant, has been charged with multiple murders after police found the skeletal remain of the babies, buried in a garden and hidden under household clutter in a garage.

News agency AFP reports that her relatives were stunned and voiced belief that Cottrez had managed to hide eight pregnancies and births, and then killed her babies.

Prosecutor Eric Vaillan told reporters that “she did not want more children and wished to avoid seeing a doctor for contraception.” Therefore, she killed her eight newborns.

Cottrez’s husband was freed after denying any knowledge of the killings or the eight pregnancies.

These killings happened in the northern village of Villers-au-Tertre.
