Arab League splits from West for bombing Libya

A week after urging the United Nations to mandate a no-fly zone, the Arab League is now criticising the military strikes on Libya.

The leader of the Arab League said Arabs did not want military strikes by Western Powers to hit civilians when they had called for a no-fly zone over Libya.

Media reports Secretary-General Amr Moussa is calling for an emergency meeting of the League to discuss the situation in Libya under UN resolution 1973.

“What is happening in Libya differs from the aim of imposing a no-fly zone, and what we want is the protections of civilians and no the bombardment of more civilians,” Moussa said.

So far, only Qatar has openly supported the Western-led campaign

Of-course they would, they might have to face the same in their own countries since most of the Arab world is run by dictators
