US drone attacks in Pakistan leave six dead
Officials report that at least six militants were killed in a US drone attack on a compound in a Pakistani tribal town near the Afghan border.
A security official in Peshawar said the drones fired five missiles at a house. Separately, a local intelligence official said: “US drones fired five missiles on a compound in Spinwam, 40km northeast of Miranshah.”
This was the first US drone attack since March 17, where a similar attack had left 39 people dead including many civilians in the same area. The attack had let civilian and military leaders to publicly protest the civilian causalities.
The drone campaign is believed to operate with the consent of the government. Islamabad had offered compensation to the families of the 39 victims.
