North Korea to release elderly missionary
75-year old John Short is set to be released, after being detained in North Korea since last month.
The Australian missionary was arrested after distributing bible tracts in Pyongyang on the day of Kim Jong Il's birthday, a national holiday in the country. He is seen above penning a three-page, handwritten confession for his wrongdoing, which he admitted to and apologized for. Authorities said that his release was ordered partly in view of his advanced age.
North Korea still holds Kenneth Bae, an American missionary, a year after his arrest. He was convicted of attempting to overthrow the state and sentenced to 15 years hard labour.
