Magnitude 6 earthquake hits Thailand

Northern Thailand was struck by a Magnitude 6 earthquake, resulting in damage to roads and buildings but with no casualties reported.

The captial Bangkok and neighbouring Myanmar felt the quake, which struck close to the town of Chiang Rai in Thailand’s mountainous north.

Public buildings were immediately evacuated.
