Spanish politician shot dead
Prominent politician murdered in broad daylight in Spain's León province

Isabel Carrasco, a 59-year old politician in the Spanish province of León, was shot dead in broad daylight yesterday as she walked to her party's headquarters.
Several shots were heard at about 5pm on a footbridge close to Carrasco's home and witnesses say there were many people, including children, close by at the time.
The head of the People's Party in the province, Carrasco was shot by the wife of a police officer from a nearby town and her daughter.
Sources within Spain's ministry of the interior dismissed suggestions that the murder was politically motivated and instead suspected a personal grudge motivated the murder.
