Video | Horrific highspeed crash caught on video in US

A teenager is fighting for his life in a US hospital after his car flew into the air and hit a bridge after crashing into a central reservation at more than 100mph

Brennan Eden's Pontiac Firebird was smashed into three pieces and left in a mound of smoking metal after the crash on Interstate 675 in Greene County, Ohio.

Dramatic video footage showed the 19-year-old racing past a police car and then losing control of his vehicle on a grass verge before ploughing straight into a central reservation. The American car then sails through the air and smashes into the side of a concrete pillar on a motorway bridge.

The youngster was thrown from the car during the impact and police said it was a miracle he survived.

Onlooker Mike Riley told WDTN.com: "It's something you see on TV, but to see it in real life - it's something you never want to see again.

"He went down into the median, into the grass, hit the guard-rail, went airborne and the car hit the centre post of the bridge and literally exploded into three main pieces."

Witnesses said the Firebird was passing cars at more than 100mph moments before the incident.

Police said Brennan, from Mason, Ohio, was conscious after the crash and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital.

"He is very lucky to still be alive at this point," said Ohio State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Marty Fellure at the scene.

"You can see behind me the impact he took and where he got ejected and landed, he's a very fortunate man right now."

The footage was captured on the police car's camera.
