150 buried in India landslide
Residents are looking for survivors in the debris
A landslide hit a village in western India following torrential rains, sweeping away scores of houses and raising fears that more than 150 people could be trapped, officials said.
At least 40 houses were swept away in the village of Ambe in Pune district in Maharashtra state, about 151km southeast of Mumbai. An official said residents had already begun clearing the debris to look for survivors.
Damage to roads and communications networks has hampered rescue workers.
Landslides are common in the area during the monsoon season, which runs from June through September.
