VIDEO | Man missing as mudslide hits Italian village

A 25-year-old bar owner is still missing after a mudslide flooded a tiny village on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

Italian coast guards have widened their search at sea, and along the coastline of the picturesque coast of Amalfi, Southern Italy, as fears are rising that the missing person may have been swept into the nearby sea.

The incident happened after the river Dragone burst its banks during the night. Earth movers and diggers worked through the night removing debris and rubble after the mudslide threw cars down streets and piled vehicles into the centre of the village.

With a population of around 900, the village is known as one of the Amalfi coasts most beautiful attractions. The river normally runs underneath the village. However, with the recent heavy rainfall it burst.
