Four Italian soldiers dead, another one seriously injured in Afghanitan ambush

Four Italian soldiers have died and a fifth one has suffered serious injuries in the Farah province in Afghanistan.  The news was broken by sources close to the Italian Defence Ministry.

The soldiers, which were all hailed from the “Alpini” regiment, were ambushed on their return from a mission, while they were in the Gulistan valley, in the Farah province.

According to Italian military sources, the ambush took place at 9.45 am local time (7.15 Maltese time).

The five Italian soldiers were attacked both with firearms as well as with the explosion of a bomb. (More news later)
