Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter found dead
33-year-old Edena Hines stabbed to death in New York
33-year-old Edena Hines, who is the granddaughter of internationally renowned star Morgan Freeman, was found stabbed to death on Sunday on a Manhattan street.
Police responding to a 911 call about 3am found Hines lying on the street with multiple stab wounds to her chest, and she was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.
A 30-year-old man was taken into police custody at the scene, in front of Hines’ apartment on West 162nd Street.
Freeman issued a statement, in which he said: “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer.”
Hines, who was the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, had studied acting and was involved in teaching urban youth.
No charges have been filed, and police are investigating the stabbing.
