Pakistani families marked the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks which left 150 people dead, mostly school children.

On 16 December last year, Taliban men attacked a school in Peshawar shot and killed children and teachers. Hundreds of families gathered at a memorial held at the Army Public School to remember the young victims. Top country officials, including the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, also attended the ceremony.

Mothers of children that were gunned down by the terrorists and attack survivors received medals. The school inaugurated the building of a new auditorium in memory of this attack.

The Government is also considering to change the name of the 120 schools that sit in the capital Islamabad, after the victims of the massacre. It plans to create a fund of $17.5 million for the families.

Despite these initiatives, families of the victims have expressed their anger at the way they have been treated by the Pakistani government after the attacks, claiming that they never received the medical attention and funding that they were promised.
