Taliban commander killed in Sangin, Afghanistan
Afghan forces claim they killed a Taliban commander
The Afghan Interior Ministry has confirmed the death of a Taliban commander and 50 of his fighters after a night of fighting in Sangin.
The Taliban had claimed control of the Helmand province and the Afghan forces have been trying to recapture the area since.
Officials say they managed to take key buildings in an attack aided by American air strikes.
The Taliban commander that was killed, Mullah Nasir, was a close confidant of the Taliban leader, Mullah Akthar Mansour.
The two forces are fighting for Sangin, as it is very strategically located, especially for opium production.
