The State of Texas in the United States has just become even more gun-friendly thanks to a new law which passed on Friday.

The law allows for certain Texas citizens to wear handguns in holsters on their hip, or on their shoulder.

Texas already has laws which make it very easy to carry a gun. In fact, it is easier to get into the Capitol, Austin, if you carry a gun than being without one, as licensed gun owners can pass through a non-security lane while the unarmed, have to stand in line and pass through metal detectors.

With the new law in place, a Texan can shop, dine or work with a handgun displayed on their hip or shoulder.

It is being considered as a win for gun rights supporters as groups like the Open Carry Texas, have been lobbying the idea since 2013. At noon last Friday, the group organised a gathering which saw people walking down the Capitol, with gun holsters on their hips.

Open Carry Texas founder, C.J. Grisham said he intends to start carrying two-semiautomatic pistols and claimed he gave a pink rifle to his 12-year-old daughter for her birthday.

States that allow some form of gun carrying in the USA, amount to more than 40. But the new law will make Texas the most open-carry state of all.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama is planning to by-pass Congress to issue a new law on gun control as he intends to take steps to pass new gun control measures. He described the gun-carrying issue as a “major piece of unfinished business.”
