A car bomb in south-eastern Turkey has killed two police officers according to international reports.

The car bomb, set up in Nusaybin town near the Syrian border, left another 14 people, including civilians injured.

According to state media, the attack was carried out by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), after violence between the government at the PKK intensified following the collapse of a ceasfire in July.

The BBC adds that the PKK, has been fighting for Kurdish self-determination since 1984, but it is considered a terrorist organisation by Turkey and its Western allies, with militants attacking security forces, and the army besieging Kurdish-dominated towns.
