Video| Bride murdered on honeymoon in Cape Town

Authorities in South Africa are appealing for help in a murder investigation which has left Anni Dewani dead on her honeymoon.

Anni Dewani, 28, and her British husband Shrien, 31, had been married only two weeks when they were kidnapped on the outskirts of Cape Town.

After having dinner on Saturday evening, the couple caught a taxi to a nightlife hotspot. But on its way, the car was stopped by armed men who forced the driver out of the vehicle before speeding off with the couple inside.

At around midnight, the gunmen let go the husband unharmed, who quickly alerted the police on the attack.

Unfortunately, the next morning officers found the abandoned cab with his wife’s dead body on the back seat of the car. The tourism minister for the Western Cape, Alan Winde, said that on their way to Guguletu, “it sounds as though they had gone a little off course when the carjacking took place.”

The region’s minister for community safety, Albert Fritz, called on to whoever has any information about the incident to immediately report it to the police. "This could have happened to any of our loved ones and it is important that communities become involved in doing the right thing," he said.
